This is going to be a fun week! The museum is participating in two Halloween-themed events for you to take part in:
This Thursday, October 12th, the Interurban Railway Museum will be a wine stop on the Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walk. This month’s theme is “Dammit, Janet!” in homage to the cult favorite Halloween flick, Rocky Horror Picture Show. October’s Wine Walk tickets are $12 in advance and $18 at the door, and get you as many samples of wine as you’d like, as well as a few shopping discounts at the stores in Historic Downtown Plano. What’s awesome about this month is that visitors to Downtown Plano will be able to see the ArtCentre Theatre cast perform musical numbers from their production of “Rocky Horror Picture Show” in McCall Plaza before a free showing of the movie.
The Interurban Railway Museum will be open from 5pm to 9pm Thursday night, with free admission for ALL! Even those who don’t have a Wine Walk wristband are invited to come inside, enjoy the air conditioning, and learn a little about Plano’s past. The Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walk is a rare, monthly opportunity for adults to visit and enjoy the Interurban Railway Museum after-hours.
Museum visitors this Thursday will have the privilege of seeing our Fall temporary exhibit, Home Runs & Heartaches, which is about baseball as it crossed paths with the railway system. This exhibit will be on display until November 17th, 2017, when it is replaced with the Plano History Exhibit for the holidays.
The Plano Art & Wine Walk occurs in Downtown Plano on 15th street every second Thursday of the month, from 5pm to 9pm. Visitors to Downtown Plano pay for a wristband which allows them to try samples of wine at each “wine stop” on the walk. Participants receive a wine stop map and a complimentary wine glass to take with them before they set off on their adventure around the district. Click here to learn more and to register!
This Friday, October 13th the Interurban Railway Museum will be the starting point for the 1st annual Apparition Expedition!
This is a ghostly hike through Downtown Plano, beginning at the museum and working down 15th street visiting all of the haunted locations in the area. Sadly, this year’s event is SOLD OUT. However, the museum will still be open to all visitors to Downtown Plano from 5pm to 9pm. There will be vendors outside the museum and an after-party at 9pm at the Old Community Well, staff will be removing the grate over the well and bringing anything we find up to the surface. At this after-party there will be music, food, and drinks for all!
We hope everyone has a safe and spoooky week here in beautiful Plano, Texas!
